Create an Inventory in an Hour (or Less)

Updated: 4 days ago

Creating an inventory sounds like a weekend project—but it doesn’t have to be. In fact, with a phone and about an hour, it’s easy to build a strong visual inventory of any space. Perfect for insurance, estate planning, or just getting organized without overthinking it.

Here’s the fast-track method:

📸 Start with a panoramic photo. Stand in the doorway and use your phone’s panoramic setting to capture the entire room in one shot. This gives a big-picture view of how the space looked before any damage, moves, or deep cleaning.

📸 Now go wall by wall:

  • Take a clear photo of the left wall

  • Then the front wall

  • The right wall

  • And the back wall

📸 Don’t forget the floor and ceiling, yes, really. Ceilings can have fixtures, vents, or damage indicators. Floors may have rugs, floor safes, or other value hiding in plain sight.

📸 Open every closet and if it has anything valuable—financial or sentimental—snap a photo. No need to stage it. Just document what’s there.

📸 Open every cabinet and drawer and If it holds something worth insuring or remembering, photograph it. Kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, even that mysterious junk drawer—if it matters, include it.

Pro Tip: Don't forget the attic, basement, and outdoor areas!

Once the photos are taken using the Pinventory companion app, organizing and labeling them is quick and seamless. It’s fast, visual, and the whole inventory can be done before lunch.
