Product Information

What's the difference between your app and the web-based platform?

Our app, available in the Apple and Google Play stores, is for taking photos and entering basic information -- it then saves both the photo and its information instantly to the web-based platform, which is where you manage and edit your information, add documents and print out reports.

If Pinventory is a web-based platform, can I use it on my mobile device?

In short, yes! Go to pinventory.net using the browser of your choice on your phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop (or go to pinventory.com and select "Log In"). You can then manage and edit your information. So no matter what device you're using, you can access your information. Pinventory is optimized for laptops and desktops, but works very well on tablets. Your information is completely accessible on a phone, but the layout will look compressed compared to other devices. When adding photos, the easiest way is to use our app, available on the Apple and Google Play stores -- the photos and basic information entered will save instantly to the web-based platform, for further management.

Can I try out Pinventory before paying for it?

Absolutely! Upon creating an account, you will receive a 15-day free trial. You will not be charged until the end of the trial period, and you are welcome to cancel any time -- you will have access to Pinventory until the end of your trial period, regardless of when you cancel.

What kind of encryption do you use?

We use AES, SHA-2 & 2048-bit encryption to secure your information.

Secure Hash Algorithm 2 is a set of cryptographic hash functions designed by the United States National Security Agency (NSA).

The AES encryption is a symmetric block cipher, which means that it protects data against breach and theft by securing it.

It would take a classical computer around 300 trillion years to break an 2048 bit encryption key.

At the present moment, there isn’t a single known method that would allow someone to attack and decrypt data encrypted by AES.

Why do you have specific criteria for passwords?

One of the most common ways that hackers break into computers is by guessing passwords. Simple and commonly used passwords enable intruders to easily gain access and control of a computing device.

The key aspects of a strong password are length (the longer the better);a mix of letters (upper and lower case), numbers, and symbols,no ties to your personal information, and no dictionary words.

Do you use SSL certificates to secure your websites?

Yes, SSL certificates provide the strongest protection for online businesses,
including standards and regulations such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA, HITECH, GDPR and more.

How secure is the data?

Our data is hosted and secured using Rackspace technology.

Do you have an Affiliate Program?

We welcome the opportunity to work with a variety of partners in a variety of ways.

  • What some call an "Affiliate" program, we have changed to be Referral and Selling Agent Programs. Depending on the level of involvement, individuals and firms can participate in our programs, earning anywhere from 5-20%.
  • We offer a Value-Add program for professionals, such as accountants, financial planners, family offices, professional organizers, health care and human resources professionals and others who would like to offer the creation of a home inventory as a value-added service to their clients.
Please contact us to discuss either of the above, including private labeling and bulk discounts.

Do you train people to offer Home Inventory Services?

Yes, we offer our Home Inventory Academy, which is an online, on-demand 7 module course that teaches professionals how to create a home inventory for their clients. It includes not only teaching them - step-by-step - but also helps them assess their current business, explaining the eight key areas of any business, and helps create a business plan and marketing plan for the offering. More information can be found at www.homeinventoryacademy.com. The Home Inventory Academy course is given via zoom and is not expensive for what it offers. The course costs $999 and generally, revenue from one client recovers the entire cost of the course - and then some! Once someone has taken the Home Inventory Academy course and has fulfilled the Certification requirements of insurance, experience, referrals and proof of having a bonafide company, they are able to become Pinventory Pros. At that point, we promote and refer business to these designated, trained professionals.

General Questions

What's a home inventory, and why do I need one?

A home inventory is a record of the items in your home, with photos, allowing you to prove the items you have and their value. Scans/files of receipts are added in order to prove purchase and value. A thorough home inventory also includes photos of the rooms in your home and the condition they're in. If you're a homeowner or renter and experience damage or theft, you will only receive money from insurance claims if you can document what you had and its value. If you're a business owner, this also applies, so having photos of the appliances and equipment, with purchase documentation, is essential.

I'm overwhelmed and don't know where to start.  What can I do?

There are a variety of ways we can help you: When you first log into our platform, we have a video that shows you how to use our software to set up your home inventory. You can visit our Help Center, which, besides having the video as a reference, also gives you a step-by-step document on how to create your Home Inventory. We offer a course at Home Inventory Academy (www.homeinventoryacademy.com) that shows you - step-by-step -, how to create your home inventory in bite sized chunks. With the course, you get to be part of Pinventory's private Facebook Group and you get to attend a Live Q&A once/week for an hour, where we'll answer any questions you have. If all of those still seem too overwhelming, we have a list of Pinventory Pros - people that have learned how to create home inventories for others using Pinventory, offering a service to get your home inventory done for you. You can then have them update the home inventory periodically or you can do it yourself, using Pinventory! You can even start by trying it yourself and, if you find you don't want to do it all, you can switch to another way. Finally, if you're totally overwhelmed or confused, pick up the phone and call us! We're always available to brainstorm... :-)

How long have you been in business?

We have no intention of going out of business (we've been around for over 12 years!), but we also know that this is a question that clients have in the back of their minds, so we are happy to give you answers that we hope will allay any concerns you may have.

  • We have ensured that the software is written in a platform that is world renowned, the Microsoft .NET platform.
  • We have also ensured that all your data can be exported to Excel via our Export Utility.

Her first one, Organizer Systems, Inc., was a 20-year firm in the hedge fund industry that was eventually acquired by SunGard, in 2002. The software she created, InvesTier, is still used internationally!
